The hot dog, one of the most iconic American foods, is so common in Mexico that here in Guadalajara, you can find as many hot dog stands as taco stands at night. Most of them offer up hot dogs in the traditional bacon wrapped, panela topped, flavorlicious style of Mexico.
Today Fernando and I visited a food truck that goes against the stereotype with an import that comes from one of the heavy hitters in the world of sausages; Germany. We got our taste of Germany in the Guadalajara Food Truck Park. A medium sized outdoor market close to Chapultepec Avenue that offers high quality, upscale street food for those in the know.
The trucks are all very modern and provide a wide variety of food ranging from fish tacos to American style BBQ. Today we decided to try the German Dog at German Hot Dog Truck. The German Dog at German Hot Dog Truck came with a grilled hot dog bun that wrapped an epic German sausage, a side order of salty fries, along with a nice side of slaw. German Hot Dog Truck also provided a housemade dressing, ketchup, mustard, and jalapeños.
The flavor of the German Dog was much more spicy and bold than your typical hot dog and combined very well with the salty fries.Adding the slaw and dressing to the top gave it a distinct, rich, and creamy flavor that left us wanting more. It was love at first bite. In addition to the German Dog, the German Hot Dog Truck specializes in a wide variety of gourmet burgers that look absolutely amazing.
Stop by for a German Dog at German Hot Dog Truck and get a taste of Germany in Guadalajara.
