Today Fernando grabbed me and brought me to one of the more innovative seafood restaurants in Guadalajara. When I got there I was shocked to find an amazing taste of Asia that made my tongue do the twist. I also had a pretty epic quesadilla that wrapped two marlin chile rellenos.
The amazing taste of Asia is called the tostada con atun fresco. Tostadas are large, circular shaped, fried tortillas, that are used as a base for various toppings of meats, vegetables and salsas. However, the tostada at Laceña is made out of a fried wonton wrapper. It is topped with chipotle mayonaise, slices of raw tuna, soy sauce, sesame seeds, and sauteed onions. The flavor took me back home to Hawaii where sushi is abundant but with a mexican kick. The base mixed well together providing a nice bold flavor, and when we added salsas to the tostada the spice put my mouth into overdrive. I was in heaven.
The other item on todays menu was the torito. The epic quesadilla that wrapped two marlin chile rellenos. Quesadillas are tortillas filled with cheese and than fried until the cheese melts. Chile Rellenos are large fried peppers, that can be breaded, that contain fillings of meat and/or cheese. I really thought that this was an awesome quesadilla as a whole, however, I did not recognize the melted cheese in the flavor. The chile combined with the marlin was delicious and made for what I felt was actually a really epic taco.
La Paceña was a really classic fish taco shop with lots of inovation. When you are looking for sushi in Mexico, do not buy sushi, go to this taco shop. It is located at the intersection of Alfredo R. Plascencia and Morelos, three blocks away from Avenida Chapultepec.

La Paceña Adrees: Morelos and Gral. San Martin.
